Horsford Statement On Meeting With VA Secretary Bob McDonald

Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) met with VA Secretary Bob McDonald at the VA hospital in North Las Vegas. After the meeting, Horsford released the following statement:

"Secretary McDonald has a monumental task in front of him: turning around a gigantic bureaucracy will not be easy. However, after meeting with the Secretary one-on-one, I believe he is the right man for the job. He is dedicated to serving those who have served our country and possesses the leadership skills the VA needs right now.

"During our meeting, I thanked Secretary McDonald for green-lighting the process to build an outpatient clinic in Pahrump. This facility will make a big difference in the quality of care for our veterans. During the town hall with the Secretary, Nevada veterans also voiced their support for this project.

"It took Secretary McDonald less than one week to approve a project that previously took two years to move forward.

"The Secretary and I also discussed the need for a VA partnership with a future UNLV medical facility. Such a project will greatly improve the delivery of health care services in southern Nevada.

"In addition, the Secretary announced that $11.8 million will be directed to improve health care for veterans in southern Nevada as a result of Congress passing the VA reform bill."
