Shelley Moore Capito Releases West Virginia Works Plan

Today, U.S. Senate candidate Shelley Moore Capito released her West Virginia Works Plan -- a six-point plan for putting West Virginia on a path toward more jobs and a stronger future for West Virginia families.

"West Virginia is a wonderful state full of hard-working people who always look out for each other. Our state powers America, and we are this country's future," said Capito. "President Obama, Harry Reid and their anti-coal allies have turned their backs on us, but we know we can do better."

"West Virginians deserve a Senator who will stand up to President Obama and Harry Reid, and who will fight for coal, jobs, healthcare reform that works and our veterans," added Capito. "My six-point West Virginia Works Plan builds on my record of standing up for West Virginia families and shares my vision for bringing much needed relief to our state."

As the Charleston Daily Mail today reports today, Capito's West Virginia Works Plan consists of the following six points:

2) Creating opportunities for a West Virginia that works

3) Building a foundation for a West Virginia that works

4) Preparing a West Virginia that Works

5) Honoring West Virginians who worked to protect our freedom

6) Supporting strong families for a West Virginia that works

Capito announced her West Virginia Works Plan today in the Northern Panhandle as part of her West Virginia Works Tour. The tour, which kicked off earlier this month, features stops around the state focused on sharing Capito's record of working for West Virginia, along with her vision for getting the state on a path toward more jobs and a stronger future.

"I have fought for dozens of jobs bills that have not received a vote in the U.S. Senate because of President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's gridlock. These measures would protect and grow our energy jobs, create new economic opportunities, expand our infrastructure, improve our education system, care for our veterans, and make life better for families if only they could break through Harry Reid's grip on the Senate. This November, we have a chance to change things," said Capito.

Yesterday, Capito toured FirstEnergy's coal-fired plant in Pleasants County. Today she is touring the Marshall County Courthouse, hosting two coalition events in Wheeling -- Women with Shelley and Veterans for Capito -- and visiting with employees at the Dominion Natrium Processing & Fractionation Facility in Wetzel County. The Natrium facility takes natural gas produced from the Marcellus and Utica shales and separates liquid from the gas to use for other manufacturing purposes -- a perfect example of how an all-of-the-above energy strategy can power a West Virginia that works.
