State Senator Norma Torres (D-Pomona) continues to gain key endorsements in her bid for the 35th Congressional District. Today, State Controller John Chiang announced his endorsement of Torres, citing her long record of leadership on behalf of the Inland Empire's taxpayers. In his endorsement, Chiang wrote:
"Norma Torres has been an effective leader for the Inland Empire. She has been a strong advocate for financial discipline and economic growth. Norma Torres is the kind of leader we need in Congress. She will put government to work for the taxpayers."
Chiang joins a growing list of leaders who support Torres for the 35th District. Torres accredited Chiang's support to the work she's done to help balance the budget, promote government transparency and improve the Inland Empire's economy.
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of our state's Chief Fiscal Officer," said Torres. "Controller Chiang has been a leader for government transparency, fiscal discipline and job creation. Like our Controller, I have fought for greater transparency of our local governments, balancing the state budget, and economic growth for the Inland Empire. In Congress, I will continue to advocate on behalf of the taxpayers."
