Congresswoman Matsui Statement on President Obama's Net Neutrality Remarks

Statement

Date: Aug. 6, 2014
Location: Sacramento, CA

Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) issued the following statement on President Obama's remarks Tuesday on net neutrality:

"I am pleased that the President recognizes the importance of preserving a free and open Internet, and the threat paid prioritization deals pose. Our country cannot afford so-called Internet fast lanes or special paid prioritization agreements. It is an innovation tax on the Internet ecosystem. I strongly encourage Chairman Wheeler to follow the President's lead by using the FCC's authority to ban paid prioritization agreements and enact strong net neutrality protections for consumers and innovators."
