Reaffirms his commitment to Cuba's pro-democracy movement

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), along with Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Menendez (D-NJ), today met with Yris Perez Aguilar, the wife of Cuban dissident "Antunez." They discussed the Cuban regime's ongoing wave of repression and how it has targeted this family.

"It's very clear the Cuban regime is trying to break this family's spirit and ultimately find a way to kill Antunez the way they did to Oswaldo Paya and Harold Cepero," said Rubio. "As Yris reiterated today, international support for their cause is critically important, and no country in the world speaks with a bigger microphone or with greater moral authority than the U.S.

"The Cuban people know when people in the U.S. and around the world raise their voices on their behalf, and we need to continue highlighting the regime's abuses as they happen," added Rubio.
