Bost Receives NFIB Endorsement for His Support of Small-Businesses

Metro East business people joined together with the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) to support the Congressional Candidacy of Mike Bost (R-Murphysboro) on July 24.

Bost's endorsement was based on his long history of being a small business owner and strong track-record of economic development policies during his service in the Illinois House.

Illinois' NFIB State Director Kim Clarke-Maisch praised the Bost record, "Mike Bost grew up in a family-owned business so he knows first-hand how government policies can impact the free enterprise system. He has been a strong voice for small business on the floor of the Illinois House and we know he will take that attitude and work ethic to Congress."

NFIB Vice President of Political Lisa Goeas agreed. "Mike Bost is clearly the best choice for the 12th District. His opponent, Rep. Bill Enyart, has earned only a 30-percent NFIB voting record in the current Congress. Our members can't afford to keep a congressman who votes against small business, votes against jobs and a stronger community, 70 percent of the time. That's why we need to send Mike Bost to Congress," Goeas said.

"Illinois and America need a true economic recovery, our nation may be showing some signs of recovery, but we still have too many citizens unemployed. Federal regulators are run amuck with thousands of job-killing rules which are impediments to business expansion," Bost said. "I would like to thank the local NFIB members for their strong support and look forward to being their advocate in Washington."

Mike Bost's endorsement comes from the NFIB SAFE (Save America's Free Enterprise) Trust, the association's political action committee, and is based on his record and positions on key small-business issues including health care, taxes and labor and regulatory issues.

As owner of Frerichs Freight Lines, Belleville native, Bill Frerichs shared his enthusiasm about Bost's endorsement. "We need a strong voice in Congress and with Mike Bost in Washington, D.C., we will have an advocate for southern Illinois business people. For too long, Illinois has struggled -- economically and Mike Bost's common-sense approach to legislating, will help foster economic growth and job creation. "

NFIB has 11,000 dues-paying members in Illinois, representing a cross section of the state's economy. Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage its members to help turn out the small-business vote on Election Day.
