Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX28) and Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), co-chairs of the Texas Caucus on Shale Oil and Gas, hosted a briefing on crude oil exports for members of the Shale Oil and Gas Caucus and the Texas congressional delegation. The briefing, provided by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) and the Congressional Research Service (CRS), focused on the crude export ban and the recent Commerce ruling allowing condensate exports.

"Today, Texas is the leading crude oil-producing state in the nation," said

"The Eagle Ford Shale region, which I represent, supported more than 86,000 jobs in the region in 2012, providing $3.3 billion in salaries, $347 million in state revenue, and $800 million in local government revenue. It is no wonder why many analysts call North America the new Middle East for oil.
