Issue Position

In the current economic climate, Senator Moore understands the sacrifices and struggles that families and small businesses in the Second Worcester District are making to make ends meet. He has made the revitalization of the district and the economy one of his highest priorities. During his first term, as Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Community Development and Small Businesses, he led a listening tour to listen to the needs of communities and small businesses across the state and to help improve the business climate here in the Commonwealth.

As a member of the Joint Committee of Labor and Workforce Development, Senator Moore has been on leader on several legislative efforts aimed to help working families and small businesses. During the FY 2014 Budget, the Senator led efforts in the Senate to fund the Mass Manufacturing Extension Partnership. He was also instrumental in establishing a scholarship program aimed to motivate students to enter career areas that our employers need most for "in demand" professions that will be defined by labor market conditions to help enable and encourage students to study in the career areas that our employers most need. Senator Moore was also an instrumental leader in the repeal of the Fair Share and HIRD Form requirements in Massachusetts, further removing burdens from our small businesses.

Senator Moore is committed to job creation and serves on the Legislature's Manufacturing Caucus and the BioTech Caucus.
