Issue Position

As Senate Chairman of the Joint Committee on Higher Education, and a father of two, Senator Moore understands the importance of education.

Senator Moore has worked closely with public institutions of higher education to ensure that a college education in Massachusetts is both accessible and affordable, which is why the Senator led legislative efforts to ensure a tuition and student fee increase freeze for the 2013-2014 school year at all UMass, state university and community college campuses in the Commonwealth. He was also a key legislative leader in ensuring the inclusion of performance funding for the state's community colleges in the FY 2014 Budget.

Along with serving as the Senate Chair of Higher Education, Senator Moore serves on several independent committees aimed at ensuring affordable, quality education in the Commonwealth. The Senator serves as the Vice-Chair of the Council of State Governments' Eastern Region Education Committee. He also serves on the New England Board of Higher Education Legislative Advisory Committee and the Advisory Board for the Department of Nursing at Worcester State University.
