U.S. Senate candidate Shelley Moore Capito today joined members of the Sportsmen for Capito coalition in Hernshaw for a shooting event and discussion about preserving West Virginia's cherished traditions and Second Amendment rights.
"There are many people in Washington, people who support my opponent, who frankly don't care about our West Virginia values," said Shelley Moore Capito. "Our state's traditions are dear to my heart and I will always continue fighting for the right of law-abiding West Virginians to bear arms."
Shelley Moore Capito is 100 percent pro-Second Amendment.
Shelley has a lifetime "A' rating from the National Rifle Association (NRA), and she was recently endorsed by the West Virginia Citizens Defense League -- the state's largest pro-gun group. She opposes the Manchin-Toomey background check bill, which would further restrict gun purchases, and she stood in opposition to the President over the United Nations Arms Treaty, which threatens the Second Amendment.
Natalie Tennant's commitment to the Second Amendment is questionable at best.
Tennant was criticized by the NRA for supporting Obama's "anti-freedom agenda," and Michelle Obama cited gun control in her endorsement of Tennant. Natalie Tennant has taken three positions on the Manchin-Toomey background check bill -- for, undecided and now against -- and she is backed by gun-hating liberals like Harry Reid and Elizabeth Warren. A review of natalietennant.com dating back to 2003 shows that she has never issued a policy position, coalition or press release mentioning the Second Amendment or guns until now, and she wouldn't even fill out the NRA's candidate questionnaire during her 2011 bid for Governor.
What West Virginians are saying:
Arlie Hubbard, Sportsmen for Capito Kanawha County Co-Captain
"Shelley Moore Capito has my vote. She always defends the constitution and she will not tolerate anyone trying to take away our protected freedoms. Shelley shares in our small town traditions, and she is exactly the kind of leader we need representing our West Virginia values in the Senate."
Keith Morgan, West Virginia Citizens Defense League President
"West Virginia needs someone who will fight for our Second Amendment rights in the Senate. That is why we are proud to support Shelley Moore Capito in this important election. Natalie Tenant is supported by a "who's who' of entrenched anti-gun politicians like Elizabeth Warren and Harry Reid, who wish to trample our inherent right to self-defense. Shelley Moore Capito is in touch with West Virginians' views on this critical constitutional issue, and will be a champion for them in the United States Senate."
Joe McCormick, coal miner, Boone County Republican Executive Committee Chairman
"Shelley Moore Capito is the only candidate in this election who can be trusted to stand up for our fundamental right to bear arms. How can Natalie Tennant fight for us when she accepts support from anti-gun politicians like Elizabeth Warren, Harry Reid and Washington liberals who want to take away our guns? Shelley Moore Capito is a leader who understands our state's traditions and who will fight for our constitutionally protected rights"
