Energy projects, entrepreneurs also topics for news conferences
Veterans issues are a focus of Idaho Senator Mike Crapo's travel across Idaho during the August state work period break from Senate floor activities. Having launched a statewide survey effort to gather the opinions of veterans and their families, Crapo will meet directly with many veterans to discuss developments in veterans' services as well as honor those who have served with a Purple Heart presentation and Spirit of Freedom ceremonies this month. He will join Governor Otter in Boise to rename Idaho's Interstate 84 to honor Vietnam Veterans and participate in a veterans recognition ceremony in the Magic Valley.
In north Idaho, Crapo will note the entrepreneurial expertise of Idaho manufacturers of unique solar panel modules and an Idaho family-owned wood stove manufacturer facing problems with federal regulations.
Crapo assisted irrigators and local cooperative members in eastern Idaho to create a new hydroelectric source at the Chester Dam. He and the group will tour the facility August 26. Crapo will also join his partners in the Idaho Congressional Delegation to meet with U.S. Energy Secretary Earnest Moniz at Mayor Rebecca Casper's Intermountain Energy Summit in Idaho Falls.
