Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement after today signing HB 1602, a measure relative to the divestiture of PSNH assets and relative to the siting of wind turbines:
"As we work to build a more innovative energy future, it is critical that we focus on reducing energy costs and protecting our natural resources. By allowing the Public Utilities Commission to conduct a comprehensive review of PSNH's generation assets, HB 1602 ensures that the potential costs and benefits of divestiture to ratepayers will be fully evaluated in a public process. And by strengthening guidelines for siting wind energy systems, this bipartisan legislation helps to improve the application process for future wind projects and ensures that input from local communities is incorporated. I thank Representative Borden, Representative Baber, legislators from both parties and the diverse group of stakeholders for working to build an innovative energy future that creates jobs, reduces costs for ratepayers and businesses, and protects our natural beauty."
