Congresswoman Duckworth Applauds New Noise Monitors for Communities Surrounding O'Hare Airport

Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) will work with the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission (ONCC) to acquire and install eight additional permanent airport noise monitors in city neighborhoods and suburban communities near O'Hare International Airport. Congresswoman Duckworth released the following statement.

"I am encouraged by the addition of these noise monitors," Duckworth said. "This is a step in the right direction that will hopefully bring answers to those who live in the neighborhoods and cities surrounding the airport. I know that noise from O'Hare continues to be an issue for many of my neighbors, and I am looking forward to working with the city, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other Members of Congress on finding a long term solution to this problem."

Earlier this year, Congresswoman Duckworth along with Congressman Quigley and Congresswoman Schakowsky, sent a letter to the FAA urging it to conduct new public hearings and issue a new environmental impact study (EIS) of the O'Hare Modernization Program in response to increased noise pollution and questions raised over the hearings process.
