Sen. Cornyn Introduces Bill To Strengthen Protections For Wounded Warriors From IRS

Statement

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, today introduced the Wounded Warrior Tax Equity Act of 2014. This bill would ensure hospitalized combat troops are provided with the same protections from IRS collection activity as similarly situated civilian taxpayers. Sen. Cornyn's legislation is endorsed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.

"Our wounded warriors have sacrificed beyond measure to defend our freedoms and ensure our safety. It's unacceptable that they would be provided with less protection from the IRS than other taxpayers. Our archaic and complex tax code is in need of a full overhaul but in the near-term, we must fix this glitch and do right by our nation's heroes."
