In our wonderful country and in our wonderful Commonwealth, we have tremendous medical facilities including right here in Burlington. However, we must understand that one way or another we pay for the uninsured, because we do not refuse people who need health care. Important decisions should not depend on the whim of an insurance company, whose only contribution to the system is to collect premiums and pay out claims. In the absence of single-payer health care, I believe we must work within the system to manage the universal health care that is in place, as the best compromise solution, in a way that rewards patients for staying healthy, and health care institutions for keeping them that way.
