Issue Position: On Gun Violence

Issue Position

I am in support of Speaker's DeLeo's gun violence protection bill and I have co-sponsored it. It is a fair compromise between gun owners who do not want to give up any current rights, and our demonstrated need to protect victims of gun violence. Any restrictions contained within the bill are reasonable, and do not violate the Constitutional rights of any constituent within the Heller standard. The bill does provide assistance to schools and begins to address mental health issues that affect some gun owners who should not be licensed.
