CANCER REGISTRARS WEEK

WHEREAS, Cancer Registrars Week honors hospital and statewide central cancer registrars as the professionals responsible for the collection and management of accurate and timely cancer patient information; and

WHEREAS, through the registrars' commitment to gathering high quality data, cancer registries contribute a rich source of data that provides comprehensive information about where and among whom cancers are occurring and how well different treatments are working; and

WHEREAS, without grassroots research, cancer data would not be available for physicians, researchers, public health administrators and other allied health professionals to analyze; and

WHEREAS, cancer registries, when integrated with cancer control programs at the community and state level, make cancer control efforts more effectively targeted, more efficiently monitored and better evaluated; and

WHEREAS, the data collected by registrars are a valuable resource in providing for a healthier tomorrow; and

NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim April 4-8, 2005, CANCER REGISTRARS WEEK in the state of North Dakota.
