U.S. Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) released the following statement after the House Appropriations Interior and Environment subcommittee passed the FY 2015 Interior and Environment Bill following a morning markup. The bill contains $300 million in funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI).
"Today, the House Appropriations Committee took a crucial step to protect our greatest economic and environmental resource," Joyce said. "With the Great Lakes directly connected to 1.5 million jobs that generate $62 billion in annual wages, securing this GLRI funding is important not only to Northeast Ohio but to the nation. I'm pleased that we preserved the $300 million GLRI funding level through the markup, and I look forward to bringing the bill to a vote on the House Floor soon."
