Issue Position

Northeast Ohio is a leader in health care, with some of the best known and well respected doctors in the world. Our premier medical institutions are among Greater Cleveland's largest employers. These facilities serve as key drivers to our region's economic success, and are centers of research and innovation in a wide variety of medical fields.

As State Representative, Dovilla voted for House Bill 62, legislation that increases the penalty for assaulting a health care professional. Our region's doctors and nurses must know they can perform their important duties in environments that are safe for themselves and the patients they serve. Dovilla also cosponsored and voted for House Bill 93, legislation enacted to help address Ohio's prescription drug abuse epidemic.

Mike Dovilla believes that increased government involvement is not the solution to getting our nation's or state's health care costs under control. By transforming the health care system with technology, portability and true competition, we can help increase quality and access throughout our state. Ohio can be a model for the future of American health care. Mike Dovilla believes every Ohioan should be able to choose his or her own healthcare based on individual needs, not have it shoved down their throats by a government mandate. That is why Dovilla strongly supported Senate Joint Resolution 1, the Healthcare Freedom Act.
