Issue Position

Brooke is passionately committed to workers' rights. As an attorney, she has represented many hard-working Marylanders whose rights have been violated. She fought for and won back pay for the employees of the ESPN Zone who were laid off in violation of the federal WARN Act, and is currently representing school bus drivers in Baltimore who are owed overtime pay. She has also represented individual workers who have put in their time, working long hours to provide for their families, but who have not been paid all of the wages they were owed. Brooke will fight to make sure that Maryland has strong and effective laws protecting working people.

Chief among the laws that affect working people is the minimum wage. Brooke will work to raise the minimum wage in Maryland. Last year similar legislation failed to pass. It is critical that candidates who are elected in 2014 commit to voting yes on this critical bill and increasing the minimum wage to at least $10.25/hour.
