Gov. Rounds Offers Condolences on the Death of Former Legislator

Gov. Mike Rounds issued the following statement on the death of former State Senator Henry Poppen of DeSmet.
"South Dakota has lost a real gentleman who helped guide the state as a leader and legislator. As chairman of the appropriations committee, he had an uncanny way of ensuring that a budget was passed in a fair and timely manner. During this most difficult time, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."
Poppen, 83, served 26 years in the South Dakota Senate from 1967 to 1992.
