Gov. Rounds Appoints Kessler to Game, Fish and Parks Commission

Gov. Mike Rounds announced today the appointment of Timothy J. Kessler, Aberdeen, to the Game, Fish and Parks Commission.

Kessler fills one of the two positions that were previously held by Ken Barker, Belle Fourche, and John Kranz, Mitchell.

"I am pleased that Tim Kessler has agreed to again serve on the Game, Fish and Parks Commission," said Gov. Rounds. "This commission is right in the middle of some of the toughest and most controversial issues we have in our State. Tim's extensive background will provide valuable insight."

Mr. Kessler has previously been a member of the commission for 12 years, nine of those as chairperson. "Tim has a great deal of institutional knowledge and will be a valuable voice on the commission from day one," said Game, Fish and Parks Secretary John Cooper. "His common sense approach, ability to relate to our outdoor heritage and his business sense regarding budget matters will serve the commission well."

Mr. Kessler is a life member of Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Safari Club International. He also is a member of Pheasants Forever, Education Assistance Corporation, Fort Sisseton Commission and a charter member of the South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation.

Mr. Kessler is the owner of Kessler's Food and Drug in Aberdeen and also owns and operates Big Shot Pheasant Fields. He is a graduate of Northern State University and a life long resident of Aberdeen. He and his wife, Amy, have three sons.
