Veterans' Vision Backs Cotton For U.S. Senate

Press Release

Date: June 27, 2014
Issues: Veterans

U.S. Senate candidate Tom Cotton announced the endorsement of the bipartisan pro-veterans group Veterans' Vision on Friday. Veterans' Vision is backing Cotton because of his record of military service and his commitment to fighting for veterans in Washington.

On behalf of Veterans' Vision, Major Brian Hampton, USAR (ret) said: "The people of Arkansas deserve the best and Congressman Cotton is the best. He has been a fighter for veterans in Arkansas's 4th District, and he will be able to champion veterans even further as a U.S. Senator."

Tom Cotton said: "I want to thank Veterans' Vision for their endorsement in this race. I share their goal of making veterans a top priority, and I am committed to helping bring much needed reforms to the VA so that our veterans can receive the care they've earned."

When asked about their outreach to Senator Pryor, Major Brian Hampton had this to say, "Sometimes with competing candidates, the call is a close one. In Arkansas the choice is absolutely stark and without doubt. Senator Pryor's offices were contacted many times through a personal letter, then numerous phone calls and e-mails about affirming The Veterans' Bill of Rights. The response? "We are considering it.' They never got back to us. Our experience with Senator Pryor is that he will not be getting back for veterans."

The Veterans' Vision has made endorsements for federal office every campaign cycle since 1996. Each election cycle the Electoral Board, composed of Democrats and Republicans, meets multiple times to consider biographical information, platform information, and past voting records before deciding who to endorse. The main criterion for endorsement has always been whether or not a candidate stands up for veterans.
