Arkansas's Small Business Owners Endorse Cotton For Senate

U.S. Senate candidate Tom Cotton was endorsed Tuesday morning by the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), the nation's leading small business advocacy organization. NFIB is a nonpartisan and nonprofit organization and has over 7,000 dues-paying members in Arkansas.

"Our members support the members of Congress who support small business, and Congressman Cotton's record speaks for itself," said Lisa Goeas, NFIB vice president for Political and Grassroots. "He understands that we can't afford to burden Arkansas's and America's job creators with unnecessary regulations and excessive taxes that make it even harder for them to grow and create jobs."

"Tom Cotton has consistently supported Arkansas's small, family businesses," said Sylvester Smith, state director of NFIB/Arkansas. "He listens to what our members have to say, and he's done everything he can to create an environment where they can succeed."

Tom Cotton said: "Big Business and Big Labor have plenty of people already fighting for them in Washington. I'll go to Washington to fight for small businesses across Arkansas, because they are the backbone of our economy. When our small businesses succeed, we all succeed. That means fighting Obamacare and reducing onerous taxes and regulation."

As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Tom Cotton has earned a 100-percent NFIB voting record in the current Congress, supporting key bills concerning the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) (H.R. 1120), improving the nation's supply of affordable energy (H.R. 3, H.R. 2728 and H.R. 2231) and providing flexible family leave options (H.R. 1406). He has also taken the small-business position on delaying the individual mandate in the federal health-care law (H.R. 2668) and reducing frivolous lawsuits (H.R. 2655).

NFIB has over 7,000 dues-paying members in Arkansas representing a cross section of the state's economy. Cotton's endorsement comes from NFIB's SAFE (Save America's Free Enterprise) Trust, the association's political action committee, and is based on the candidate's positions regarding key small-business issues including health care, taxes, and labor and regulatory issues.

Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage its members to help turn out the small-business vote in November.
