#WomenWithShelley Kicks Off in Charleston

U.S. Senate candidate Shelley Moore Capito was joined by over 150 women from across West Virginia on Monday to launch the Women With Shelley coalition. The strong turnout continues to show how West Virginians of all stripes are rallying behind Shelley Moore Capito.

WOWK CBS: Women gathered in Charleston, WV to support Shelley Moore Capito The Women with Shelley coalition launched their campaign to support Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R) on Monday, June 30. According to a release from Capito's office, the "campaign brought women from all corners of the state together for a discussion about the issues they care about most…" Capito said, "I'm running for Senate not only to stop people like Harry Reid from blocking progress on these issues, I'm running so that we can advance the important work on behalf of women that I've fought for in the House." This was the first event of many planned by the Women with Shelley coalition.

Charleston Daily Mail: Capito announces coalition for women Lynne Fruth, owner of Hurricane-based Fruth Pharmacy, said she supports Capito because of her record on helping small business. "West Virginia women deserve a leader like Shelley Moore Capito in the Senate," Fruth said in a statement from the Capito campaign. "As a woman and a business owner I support Shelley because she has been very supportive of creating an environment where small businesses can thrive and provide more job opportunities for West Virginians. "The economy and the lack of jobs really are two of the biggest issues facing women in this state and Shelley understands that. She has a proven record of leadership and we can trust her to fight for us in the Senate."

Many of the women at Monday's event have played a role in supporting her in her past bids for U.S. House and the state Legislature in the mid-1990s. "Many of them have believed in me and helped me over the last 10 or 12 years to understand our West Virginia problems," Capito said. "They believe in the future and believe I can help them and help our state and our country make better decisions."
