Funds to establish an emergency room for Pahoa and a community library are CIP requests currently before the State Legislature. Their initial funding is totally up in the air. Puna Community Medical Center, a 7-day a week urgent care facility in Pahoa, helps but does not solve Puna's medical needs. I support the development of a medical facility in Pahoa based on the Waianae Health Center concept as well as the construction of a new community library, with the current Pahoa library being turned over the Pahoa schools.
