Congressman Tom Cotton (R-Dardanelle) released the following statement on today's passage of the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, which included his amendment prohibiting the transfer of Guantanamo Bay detainees for one year:

"Today, the House rightly voted to fund the nation's military and defense priorities for the next year. I was pleased the final bill included my amendment prohibiting the transfer of Guantanamo Bay detainees for one year. President Obama's recent exchange of five high-level terrorists without notifying Congress illustrates his blatant disregard for its role as a co-equal branch of government. Those five men are cold-blooded terrorists and their release puts our national security at risk. I urge the Senate to pass this bill immediately and defend our national security."
