Today's Decision Confirms President's Appointments Were "Unconstitutional" and Affirms "Proper Role" of Legislative Branch

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement today in response to the Supreme Court's unanimous ruling that that President Obama violated the Constitution's appointment clause while appointing members to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) during a pro forma session of the Senate in January 2012:

"I often express my frustration at the way President Obama routinely flouts and ignores the law and the Constitution, so I applaud the Court's unanimous decision to reject the President's unconstitutional NLRB appointments and affirm the proper role of the legislative branch. Today's ruling confirms the founding principles of our representative democracy that ensure no branch of government is all powerful. President Obama's go-it-alone approach to governing and attempts to circumvent Congress show his general disregard for the Constitution and contribute to Americans' growing distrust of this Administration. I will continue to support efforts in the House to safeguard our system of checks-and-balances to ensure our government effectively represents the American people."
