Far too often, our headlines highlight the escalating gun violence plaguing our communities. As gun fire is exchanged, we cannot stand silently by.
Bonnie Watson Coleman has repeatedly called for additional state support to help alleviate the violence, especially in cities where the issue has been exasperated due to a lack of resources or strained police. In the State legislature, she was a strong proponent of the federal grants for local and city police units to increase their operations and tactical units.
Additionally Bonnie supported legislation requiring State Police to report firearms data for use in the Uniform Crime Report and penalties on licensed dealers who knowingly sell to persons transferring to an ineligible purchaser.
In Washington D.C., she will stand with Vice President Biden and his actions to close loopholes at gun shows and reduce magazine clips.
