Issue Position: Preserving Our Environment

A critical part in preserving our environment is fostering that same love and appreciation for it in our children. This is why I hosted an annual "Teach a Kid to Fish Day" in my State Senate District.

One of Long Island's greatest treasures is our natural environment. It is our responsibility to protect it as an asset and preserve it for future generations. That's why as a State Senator, I protected the New York State Conservation Fund and Environmental Protection Fund. I also partnered with local environmental groups on efforts to address various issues in our community.

A critical part in preserving our environment is fostering that same love and appreciation for it in our children. This is why I hosted an annual "Teach a Kid to Fish Day" in my State Senate District to inspire that sense of responsibility in the next generation--a tradition I hope you'll give me an opportunity to continue as your Congressman.

There will always be a need for reasonable, balanced environmental policy in Washington and throughout the First Congressional District. This is an issue I take seriously and look forward to working with our community groups to get the maximum amount of input and cooperation.
