Cassidy Comments on Approval of Cameron LNG

Today, Congressmen Bill Cassidy (R-LA) commented on FERC's announcement that it has approved the construction and operation of the Cameron Liquefaction Project in Louisiana.

Dr. Cassidy has been a leader in supporting the expansion of the Cameron LNG plant. He co-authored a letter to FERC Chairman Jon Wellinghoff on April 30, 2013, advocating for the expansion of the existing Cameron LNG facility, which will enable access of 12 million tons of LNG to global markets per year. The terminal is strategically located near a major pipeline hub that serves nearly two-thirds of all U.S. natural gas.

Dr. Cassidy is also an original co-sponsor of the Domestic Prosperity and Global Freedom Act, H.R. 6, which would accelerate the approval process for Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) exports to our allies.

Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:

"The Cameron LNG project can serve as a model on how we can responsibly export natural gas to our allies overseas. Louisiana is blessed to have rich natural resources and approving Cameron LNG is step forward in using them. I am glad this project is moving along with positive approval and I will continue to push for LNG permit applications to be expedited."
