Grassley Welcomes Federal Government Contractor Salary Cap

Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa co-sponsored legislation to prevent federal government contractors from charging the taxpayers for exorbitant employee salaries. A similar provision became law. The federal rule implementing the provision will be published in the Federal Register on June 24 and take effect right away. Grassley made the following comment on the implementation of the provision.

"This is a matter of fairness that's overdue. Government contractors should be compensated fairly for their work but they shouldn't be allowed to featherbed their salaries at taxpayer expense. I look forward to the savings that will occur for taxpayers due to this common sense change."
