More competition means more choices and better rates for consumers. Under its current leadership, the California Department of Insurance has become a hostile bureaucracy that is driving companies out of the state.
California has long been a leader in innovation, but that's not true for the insurance marketplace. The Department of Insurance takes too long to approve or reject new products and services, making California a less attractive state for companies who want to move or grow their operations in the state.
As Insurance Commissioner, I will work to expand product choices that protect consumers, keep rates low, and make it easier for companies to hire and retain workers.
