Remembering the "Great and Noble Undertaking"

Statement

Date: June 6, 2014
Location: Hot Springs, AR

Former Arkansas House Majority Leader and Fourth District Congressional Candidate Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs) today issued the following statement on the 70th Anniversary of D-Day, the Allied invasion of Normandy:

"The 'great and noble undertaking,' as General Eisenhower put it 70 years ago, is where free men stormed their way over water, through sand, and up cliffs to stand against evil--and evil lost. People were liberated from tyranny because of their faith and their valor. We must not fail nor forsake the actions of the free men who landed at Normandy, and we must forever continue to stand for the ideals for which they fought."
