Obama EPA Rules Hurt Arkansas Families, Business

Former Arkansas House Majority Leader and Fourth District Congressional Candidate Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs) today issued the following statement on new rules issued by the Environmental Protection Agency on coal-fired plants that will raise the cost of electricity for Arkansas families:

"Over half of Arkansas's energy comes from coal-fired plants, and today's EPA rules represent an unfair attack on the pocketbooks of hardworking Arkansas families who will see their household budgets spread even thinner by higher electricity bills. It is a top-down decision by the Obama administration that puts the desires of Democratic allies and donors ahead of the needs of Arkansans who rely on affordable energy to keep their homes cool, and businesses that must keep the lights on in order for Arkansans to work."
