Mike Bost, candidate for U.S. Congress released the following statement on the U.S. House vote, H. Res. 565, a resolution to appoint a Special Counsel for IRS Investigation. The resolution calls on Attorney General Eric Holder to appoint a special counsel to investigate the targeting by the IRS of conservative nonprofit groups.
"Lois Lerner and the IRS must be held accountable for their actions," said Mike Bost, candidate for Congress (IL-12). "Targeting Americans and organizations for their political beliefs are serious allegations. The public has every right to know the truth and we expect our elected officials to stand with us. Unfortunately, Congressman Bill Enyart opposed efforts to have the Justice Department appoint a special prosecutor to ensure a thorough and nonpartisan investigation is conducted. Congressman Enyart's refusal to bring accountability to the IRS furthers the public's collapse of confidence in our government."
