Joyce Votes to Allow Veterans to Access Needed Care Outside VA System

Today, U.S. Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) voted in favor of H.R. 4810, the Veterans Access to Care Act, which passed the House unanimously. Joyce, an original cosponsor of the bill, released the following statement:

"It became clear that Congress had to come together and make sure our heroes have access to the care they need and deserve," Joyce said. "This bill is a common-sense move to allow veterans who are suffering long wait times for an appointment, as well as those who live far from a VA facility, to be seen by private-sector doctors. Our veterans should have access to the best possible care whenever they need it, whether that is within the VA system or outside of it."

BACKGROUND: The Veterans Access to Care Act follows yesterday's VA audit that revealed more than 57,000 veterans are waiting at least 90 days for their first appointments.
