Van Hollen Delivers Remarks at Anti-Domestic Violence Conference

Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen spoke at the National Network to End Domestic Violence's Annual Advocacy Conference. Over 100 coalition leaders and victim advocates working against domestic violence in nearly every state are in Washington, DC this week to meet with lawmakers and promote key legislative priorities.

"This September marks the 20th anniversary of the passage of the Violence Against Women Act. Since its passage, we have seen significant reductions in crimes of domestic abuse and violence. But the road ahead remains steep -- each day in the United States, three women die as a result of domestic violence," said Congressman Van Hollen. "Through the National Network to End Domestic Violence's courage, advocacy, and activism, it has helped to make sure that the public's voice is being heard. It is only when citizens fully engage in the political process that we move forward on these vital issues."
