Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement after the 9/11 Memorial Museum was officially opened in New York City this morning.

The unveiling of the 9/11 Memorial is a reminder of what happened on that day and a tribute to the nearly 3,000 Americans who lost their lives. The Memorial is a fitting tribute that will help generations of Americans understand the tragedy of the 9/11 attacks and a reminder of the way our country responded with hope, perseverance and compassion.
