Government spending is growing at a record pace under President Obama. Our nation's debt is out of control. This unsustainable and reckless spending puts our financial security at risk, and burdens the American taxpayer more every day. It's time to hold government accountable for the money it spends and the decisions it makes.

As our national debt grows, fewer dollars are available for seniors, students, and our national defense. America's families prioritize spending and live within their means -- why can't government?

In only my second term in office, House Republican leaders tapped me to serve as chairman of a House Government Reform Subcommittee, charged with holding the IRS and other federal agencies accountable for government waste and fraud, and reducing the regulatory burden on employers.

The Small Business Survival Committee named me "Small Business Advocate of the Month" for sponsoring and garnering the votes required to pass the "Paperwork and Regulatory Improvement Act" legislation, which holds government accountable for reducing the regulatory burden on American employers.

I was also a lead sponsor of legislation introduced to curb wasteful government spending by $30 billion a year. I opposed automatic pay increases for Members of Congress and introduced legislation requiring Congress to forfeit its pay every day the federal budget was late.
