U.S. Reps. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., and Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., sent a joint letter today to the VA Inspector General to call for an immediate investigation of the Northern Arizona VA Health Care facility in Prescott, which was red-flagged in the VA's nationwide audit as needing closer review and investigation.
Kirkpatrick said about the letter: "We need answers. First and foremost, we need to know if any northern Arizona veterans suffered because they couldn't get a timely appointment at the Prescott VA. And we need to know if managers there were cooking the books and handing out bonuses. On both counts, we need swift action and accountability."
Gosar said: "The VA's systemic failures and corrupt scheduling practices now reach into my home city of Prescott. I will not stop fighting for accountability until every veteran on every waiting list there gets the care he or she needs. After the Inspector General roots out any corruption, I expect all applicable civil or criminal remedies to be evaluated."
