Statement

Dear Neighbors,

This week, I met with DuPage Senior Council's Meals on Wheels program. I learned about their offerings while also delivering meals to groups of seniors around the DuPage county area, including the Alden Senior Center. I delivered meals with Frank, a Marine Veteran.

On Thursday, I spoke to the Bloomingdale Area Women in Business Association. It was great to meet with such an inspiring and driven group of women. When women succeed, America succeeds and I am happy to congratulate them on their successes.

Additionally, I held a celebration for students who were accepted to a Military Service Academy at Willowbrook High School in Villa Park. We discussed the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for these students, and how best to prepare for their future careers in the military.

On Friday, I visited the Gas Technology Institute (GTI) to tour their facility and learn more about their development of advanced biofuels. Along with their partners Haldor Topsoe, Andritz Carbona, UPM and Phillips 66, GTI created an integrated biorefinery to create renewable gasoline from wood via gasification. This will help our state become more energy independent. This week I also wrote an OpEd on the importance of clean energy sources, which you can read here.
