Statement

Dear Neighbors,

This week, I announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded the DuPage Homeownership Center an $18,183 grant to support their efforts in providing a wide variety of housing counseling services to homebuyers, homeowners, low-to moderate-income renters, and the homeless. This funding will assist the DuPage Homeownership Center in improving financial literacy, expanding homeownership opportunities, providing accessibility to affordable housing, and preserving homeownership.

My office is now accepting Military Service Academy nominations for the Class of 2019. If you are finishing your junior year of high school this year, live in the 8th District and are interested in applying to a Military Service Academy, please click here to learn more and to apply.

An amendment I cosponsored with Rep. Jackie Speier in the National Defense Authorization Act passed the House of Representatives last week. It would require the Pentagon to modernize its accounting system for ammunition, and would increase the efficiency of this program in the Department of Defense.

Tonight I will be attending the Bartlett Volunteer Fire Fighters Association Annual Veterans Dinner. I am excited to address the group and celebrate our local Veterans.

Mark your calendars: on June 18th, my office will be holding satellite office hours at the Gail Borden Library in Elgin from 9:00 AM -- 11:00 AM, and the Addison Public Library in Addison from 3:00 PM -- 5:00 PM. If you have questions or concerns and would like to meet with my staff, I encourage you to attend.

I hope you are having a great week.

Sincerely,

Congresswoman Duckworth
