Horsford Votes Against Partisan Benghazi Select Committee

Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) voted against a House resolution (H.Res. 567) to establish a partisan select committee to investigate the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi.

"The vote to establish a select committee is nothing more than theatrics to fire up fringe Republicans in an election year," Horsford said. "House Republicans are not concerned with having a fair and impartial investigation, and would follow the same partisan process I have witnessed Chairman Darrell Issa conduct in the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. We should instead be focused on implementing the recommendations of the State Department's Accountability and Review Board to ensure a tragedy like this never occurs again."

Rep. Horsford discussed the creation of the select committee this afternoon on NOW with Alex Wagner.

The Benghazi attacks have been investigated by multiple committees, which have released six reports, interviewed dozens of witnesses, and reviewed more than 25,000 pages of documents.

The new select committee will not have any additional powers that Chairman Issa does not already have as head of the House OGR Committee.

H.Res. 567 passed by a vote of 232-186.
