"I want to personally thank Secretary Shinseki for his service to our nation both in and out of uniform. For the good of our veterans, he has resigned as Secretary and has taken responsibility for the problems at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and misconduct at Veterans Health Association facilities.

The new leadership at the VA must immediately work to ensure there are no more unacceptable delays, and that anyone found responsible for these delays is punished appropriately.

I look forward to working with the Administration and the VA to ensure our brave men and women get the care they've earned."
