Bera Votes to Support Flood Safety Projects in Sacramento County

Earlier today, Congressman Ami Bera, M.D. voted for the bipartisan Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA), a bill that will help ensure crucial federal support for flood safety projects in the Sacramento area. He offered the following statement after the vote:

"I'm thrilled that we passed the bipartisan Water Resources Reform and Development Act today. This bill supports badly needed flood safety projects in our area to keep Sacramento County families safe, reinvests in our infrastructure, and creates jobs. This is exactly what working together to make government work looks like. I urge the Senate and President Obama to move quickly to make this bill law."

Among its many provisions, WRRDA authorizes federal support for the Natomas Levee Improvement Project to fortify the Natomas levees and keep our communities safe. It also includes language similar to the Levee Vegetation Review Act, which Bera cosponsors and which gives local communities more control over levee vegetation management instead of requiring one national standard.
