Gov. Rounds approves $1,510,900 in CDBG money

Tea, Nisland, Faulk County, Sisseton and Union County will all receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to help complete community development projects which will ultimately improve the quality of life for South Dakotans in these areas, Gov. Mike Rounds announced today, Jan. 5.

"Community development is really a quality of life issue," Gov. Rounds said. "We are actively searching for ways to keep our young people in the state and improving our communities is a huge part of that," he said.

"Issues like health care, daycare, emergency services and safe water are important to people who want to live and work in our communities," the Governor said. "By putting our CDBG money to work across the state, we are taking a huge step toward accomplishing the state's 2010 Initiative goal of stabilizing rural populations through community development."
