Cornyn Calls on Senate Democrats to Take Up Legislation Protecting Victims of Human Trafficking

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives today passed a version of his bill, the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act.

"House Republicans are showing important leadership on an issue that should unite all of us. Today's vote is a good starting point, and I will continue working to improve this legislation in the Senate.

"It's time for Senate Democrats to follow the House's lead immediately and schedule a mark-up of the bill I was proud to introduce last November."

Sen. Cornyn's bill would improve upon the House companion bill by providing even more resources, funding, and authorities to fight human trafficking networks--including a deficit-neutral $25 million fund to improve law enforcement investigations and provide direct restorative services to victims.
