U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Democratic Hispanic Task Force, is an original cosponsor of a resolution to designate April 30, 2014 as "Día de los Niños: Celebrating Young Americans." The resolution aims to bring together the Hispanic community with other communities nationwide to recognize the importance of literacy and education for children and the role we all play in supporting a child's development.
"Our country's future depends heavily on the strength of our communities and the support they provide to our children. Their success is our success," said Sen. Heinrich. "I join all New Mexicans in celebrating Día de los Niños and will continue to work to improve the well-being of our children and ensure that they have every opportunity they deserve to succeed."
