McCaul to Hold Hearing to Review DHS Programs on GAO's High Risk List

Tomorrow, the Homeland Security Committee will hold the following hearing to review the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) programs included in the Government Accountability Office's (GAO) High Risk List of government operations at risk of fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement.

Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) on the hearing: "Every dollar wasted at DHS is a dollar that could be used to better protect our borders, our communities and our citizens. Unfortunately, for almost a decade, many of DHS' core management programs have been labeled by GAO as "high risk' for waste, fraud and abuse. Over the years, millions of taxpayer dollars have been misused by DHS on faulty technology and poor planning. Tomorrow, we will discuss GAO's High Risk report and hear from Department leadership on how they plan to get their house in order and fix problems like acquisitions, information technology, and integration in order to better protect the homeland and taxpayer dollars."
